GLBIO 2011 Call for Abstracts is Now Closed

GLBIO 2011 Oral Presentation Submissions Closed on February 21.

Requests for late submission may be sent to glbio@iscb.org for committee
consideration.

The GLBIO 2011 Conference (formally OCCBIO) will provide opportunities for presentations on current projects from as many attendees as possible.   There are two types of presentations for abstract submission at GLBIO: 20-minute oral presentations and poster presentations. On the submission form you may select to have your abstract considered for an oral presentation, a poster presentation, or both.

Original presentations (including significant works-in-progress) are solicited in all areas that involve the application of advanced computational methods to significant problems in biology or medicine. Participants interested in presenting at GLBIO are required to submit a 250-word abstract organized according to the topic areas listed below. Accepted abstracts will be printed in the conference program and included on the conference website.

Solicited Topic Areas

  • Bioimaging
  • Databases and Ontologies
  • Disease Models and Epidemiology
  • Evolution and Comparative Genomics
  • Gene Regulation and Transcriptomics
  • Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics
  • Population Genomics
  • Protein Interactions and Molecular Networks
  • Protein Structure and Function
  • Sequence Analysis
  • Text Mining

Supporting PDF Document
In addition to the abstract, while not required, submitters are allowed to upload a one-page /one figure PDF file in order to aid in the selection process. The supplemental PDF should only be uploaded to provide more information and context than is possible in the text abstract, such as figure(s), a description of character data, and/or a statement of the intended user community. PDFs that simply expand on the text of the abstract will be disregarded. This PDF will not be published and is intended for evaluation purposes only.

Conference Proceedings
The GLBIO Proceedings will be published in the Open Access journal BMC Bioinformatics. The fee for publication is £600 (British Pound) and will be invoiced directly to each author by the publisher.

Presenters at GLBIO 2010 are invited to submit a 4-5 page manuscript for publication in the Open Access journal BMC Bioinformatics.

  • Manuscripts will be due after the conference, on July 1, 2011, to give authors time to refine their submissions based on discussion at GLBIO.
  • Manuscripts for all session topics will be considered.
  • Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed (abstract acceptance to GLBIO does not guarantee publication in the Proceedings).
  • Manuscripts must conform to BMC Bioinformatics author guidelines and formatting, although submissions will be processed through GLBIO, NOT the BMC Bioinformatics submission web site.
  • Authors will be charged a fee, which shall be invoiced by, and paid directly to, BioMed Central. This fee is payable regardless of any BioMed Central membership arrangements, and it shall be the responsibility of the author to pay this sum to BioMed Central for inclusion in the Proceedings.

Conference Registration
GLBIO conference registration for accepted oral and poster presenters must be completed by April 11, 2011 to remain eligible to present at GLBIO. Payment of the conference registration fee is the responsibility of the presenter.
