Title: Utilization of Virtual Microscopy in a Cooperative Group Setting
Presenters: Thomas Barr and Dave Billiter, Informatics Core at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital
Abstract: Recent studies have confirmed the potential for increased accuracy using molecular disease signatures. Molecular based methods offer the potential to tie diagnosis to personalized treatments. The rate at which molecular-based methods mature will be dependent on the integration of clinical data and virtual microscopy to study, evaluate and reinforce molecular-based disease analysis. These new methods are expected to to become clinically viable for diagnosis within three to five years. This tutorial begins with an overview of digital virtual microscopy and the significant improvements it can provide related to pathology review, and closes with demonstration of new molecular-based methods related to molecular disease signatures.
