Tutorial VII - Mass Spectrometry, Proteomics and Bioinformatics

Michael A. Freitas, Ph.D., Ohio State University
Location: Shriver Center
Monday 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

This tutorial provides an introduction to mass spectrometry based proteomics and associated bioinformatics. The tutorial will cover MS based proteomics workflows for identification and characterization of proteins along with the use of bioinformatics software essential to data analysis. We will cover the principles behind Peptide Mass Fingerprinting and Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry methods along with the associated data analysis by current free and state-licensed software. Hands-on demonstrations will be provided as well as instructions for obtaining access to OSC's Matrix Science Mascot Server.
